Full Moon BBQ has a long, delicious history of excellent Southern-style ‘que made in the time-honored, traditional way – with quality meats cooked low and slow over a hickory wood-fired pit and spiced with mouthwatering, award-winning BBQ sauce.

Full Moon BBQ has been in operation since 1986.  With the Maluff brothers, David and Joe, at the helm since 1997.

Under their vision, leadership and quality, the Maluffs have grown the business to 17 locations across Alabama and Mississippi, while continuing a family-owned tradition that caters to folks who know great ‘que from the rest.

The menu items have remained mostly the same, including the barbecue turkey sandwiches that convinced the brothers to buy the chain in the first place.

Hickory Wood-Fired Pits and Fresh Ingredients

The wood smoke from every Full Moon BBQ restaurant’s fire pit shows the Birmingham-born brothers’ commitment to top-notch ‘que while also satisfying a variety of tastes with fresh salads, hand-breaded chicken tenders, farm-raised catfish, buffalo-style wings and overstuffed baked potatoes.

Everything starts from scratch at Full Moon BBQ, making their tangy “Chow Chow” to their Half Moon cookies noteworthy.

“Our parents were in the restaurant business their whole life,” David Maluff says. “When it was time for us to work, we always worked in hot dog stands, hamburger stands, or restaurants. It was just second nature to us. We carry our family heritage, traditions and love for the community through all our efforts with Full Moon BBQ.”
